We are an independent business. We are not GOV.UK, the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, or your local council, and we cannot approve or award grant funding. You can apply directly and free of charge at gov.uk/apply-warm-homes-local-grant.
What we collect and why

If you do not give us your contact details, we do not keep a record that identifies you. You can run the eligibility check without telling us who you are.
Cookies — we don’t use any
This site sets no cookies at all: no advertising cookies, no analytics cookies, and nothing stored in your browser. We measure how the page is used entirely on our own servers, without storing anything on your device. That is why you are not seeing a cookie banner. If this ever changes we will ask for your consent first.
Who we share it with
When you tick the consent box, we pass your name, contact details and the property information shown on your results page to:
- your local authority’s Warm Homes scheme team or its appointed delivery partner, where you appear eligible for grant funding; and/or
- MCS-certified installers operating in your area, so they can quote for the work.
We tell you which of these applies before you tick the box. We do not sell your personal details to advertisers, data brokers or list resellers.
We also use service providers who process data on our behalf under contract (website hosting and database services, both located in the United Kingdom, and email delivery). They act only on our instructions.
Where your property data comes from
Energy Performance Certificate data is published by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government and used under the Open Government Licence v3.0. Eligible-postcode data comes from the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero’s published Warm Homes: Local Grant postcode list, derived from the MHCLG English Indices of Deprivation. We look these up for the address you choose — we do not build profiles of properties you have not asked about.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries where you gave contact details: 24 months from your last contact with us, then deleted.
- Consent records (what you agreed to and when): 6 years, because we may need to evidence consent to the regulator.
- Checks where you gave no contact details: not retained in a form that identifies you.
- Technical logs: 90 days.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the information we hold about you;
- correct it if it is wrong;
- delete it;
- restrict or object to how we use it;
- transfer it to another organisation.
You can withdraw your consent at any time — reply to any message from us, or email hello@whatmyhomeneeds.co.uk. Withdrawing consent does not affect anything done before you withdrew it, and organisations we have already passed your details to will hold their own copy under their own privacy notice.
We respond within one month. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
Automated decisions
The eligibility result is produced automatically from the scheme rules published by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero. It is indicative only and has no legal effect: it neither grants nor refuses you anything. Councils carry out their own checks, and self-declared information is not accepted by them as verification. If you think our result is wrong, contact us or apply directly at GOV.UK.
Changes
If we change this notice we will update the date at the top and, where the change is significant, tell anyone who has given us their contact details.
